I had started to notice that Denver was acting a little differently and seemed to be in pain when getting up and laying down. I called my vet to make an appointment, and they were able to see us that same day. After an exam and an x-ray, my vet recommended that I take him to have an MRI performed to know for certain what was going on. I was able to get an appointment with the specialty vet the same day as well. After the specialty vet’s initial examination, he asked me if I thought that Denver was in pain. My response was without a doubt and I stated, “100%”. The MRI confirmed what I already knew. Denver was in immense pain due to a tumor being wrapped around his spine. The vet told me that it was inoperable but that he would give me some medicine for pain. He wasn’t able to give me a definitive answer on time, but said not long. The very next day, Denver was unable to get up from the floor and was yelping as he tried to do so. I had to make the call to my vet to do what I knew had to be done. I took that drive to the vet for the very last time with Denver.
