My dog, Tucker, was my solid black GSD. I saw him listed on the Daytona GSD rescue site. His foster mom in Palatka had named him Leo after a friend of hers, but I renamed him Tucker. After reading his story, I knew that he was the one for me. His bio read, “Leo is a sweet and loving adult estimated to be anywhere between 6-8 years. He was found as a stray dog in a very rural area so there is a strong possibility that someone abandoned him there. A good samaritan who found him, took him home and has been taking care of him since. Leo is a well behaved and mellow dog but he does enjoy playtime as well. He shares his temporary home with multiple dogs and he can be placed in a home with other well mannered dogs who have a similar energy to his or he can be the only dog in a home as he enjoys hanging out with his humans. He will not like a young and overwhelming dog around him. It is unknown how he is around cats, therefore a home without cats is required for him. A perfect home for Leo would be a family who understands transition period and has the knowledge and patience to let him adjust to his new life. He has a playful personality, enjoys exploring the yard. Although he is over 70 lbs, he is a gentle soul who walks well on leash and rides great in a car. He is treat driven (have to be careful when he grabs the treats out of your hand) and very responsive to guidance and correction so will be an easy dog to train. Located in Palatka, FL. How horrible that must have been for him to be dropped off in the middle of nowhere and left to fend for himself. He was also starved almost to death as well.
