At Pampered Pupz of St. Johns, we believe that this is something that is required. We wouldn’t be in business if we didn’t have the support of the community, so we feel that we should give back to it when we can. Our very first one was giving complementary grooming to the adoptable dogs at our local German Shepherd rescue. While there, we also provided a complementary grooming for the owner’s service dog.
We noticed on the Next Door app that the St. Johns County Animal Shelter was in need of canned dog food for the holidays. We were able to bring them 30 cans to assist with this need.
We had made the decision that we wanted to do a Secret Santa complementary grooming for someone in need. We posted on the Next Door app asking for submissions. Apparently our social media reach is not that vast as we only received two submissions. We posted again asking for everyone to vote on who the winner should be and everyone voted for one particular person. We attempted to reach out to the person who was selected, but received no response. We also contacted the nominator who told us that she would get in touch with the winner and then contact us, but that never happened. Therefore, we decided to give the complementary grooming to a deserving customer. We were contacted by someone whose dog had been undergoing cancer treatment but had not responded well to the treatment and was currently in hospice care for end of life. We performed that groom free of charge and were honored to be able to do it for that pup. That dog has since crossed over the rainbow bridge and will be missed dearly by his pet parents.
We plan to do more for our community and are always looking for ideas. If you have an idea, please feel free to submit it to us at weluvpupz@hotmail.com.
